In Kanyakumari district, under country poultry farming scheme 35 units and 240 units had been allocated and completed for the years2012-2013 and 2013-2014 respectively. Now, 160 units have been allocated for the year 2014-2015. It is a great opportunity for the people and the farmers who are interested to grow country fowls and get benefit in their income. Country fowl growing scheme has been implemented in co-operation with the Nabard Bank. The expenses estimated to keep a single unit that comprises of 250 country chicken is rupees one laths and seventeen thousands. TamilNadu government will give 25% subsidiary of Rupees 29,250 as the first step and later Rupees 5,000 will be given in two installments for the farmers to boost their work. Those who are interested to avail the benefit of growing country chicken are asked to contact their nearest Vet nary doctors. The farmers are eligible to avail the benefit only once and hence those who have already availed the benefit of the scheme during the years 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 are not eligible to apply again.
