The ultimatum date to exchange 500 and 1000 Rupees notes printed before 2005 is 1st January 2005. It was announced by the Reserve Bank of India on the last 22nd January that the above notes that are printed after 2005 have the printing year at their back side and hence it is very easy to categorize the notes that are printed before 2005 or not.

 

The ultimatum date to exchange the notes that are printed before 2005 is going to be completed on the1st January 2015. Hence the public are requested to exchange the notes that are printed before 2005 immediately.

 

So far Indian Reserve Bank has exchanged Rs. 52, 855 crores of notes that were printed before 2005. In the same way the zonal offices of reserve bank of India have already exchanged 73.2 crores of 100 rupees notes, 51.85 crores of 500 rupees notes and, 19.61 crores of 1000 rupees notes.
